Environmental Responsibility

Sonoma Mountain Village is a pioneer in deeply sustainable, mixed-use community design.

The installation of one of the largest solar power systems in California is just one element of this all-encompassing focus. The community also makes extensive use of recycled building materials to preserve and respect the natural environment.

The newly passed SMART light rail, with a station only a 15-minute walk from Sonoma Mountain Village, will make it easy to access key services and public transit.

Codding Steel Frame Solutions, a solar powered, recycled steel panelized frame factory, will be used to build the community. The use of recycled steel makes it possible to reuse 8 junkyard cars, or 6 SUV’s to build a 2,000 sq ft house rather than cut down 40 trees from the forest.

Green Building Standards are being set at the highest levels of the GreenPoint system for homes and using the very best practices taken from a collection of U.S. and International programs. Details of these standards will be available later this year, to coincide with the start of new construction.
