Rohnert Park (CA) – 24 July 2007
Sonoma Mountain Village, a planned community where you can live, work, relax and play while reducing your ecological footprint on the planet, has been accepted into the pilot program for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Neighborhood Developments (LEED-ND) by the U. S. Green Building Council and its partners, the Congress for the New Urbanism and the Natural Resources Defense Council.
The LEED-ND pilot program aims to recognize accomplishments for communities that incorporate smart growth, new urbanist and green design principles through third-party certification.
Brad Baker, CEO and President of Codding Enterprises, says the company is pleased to be involved in such a significant pilot project. “Sustainability, environmental consciousness and healthy lifestyles are the founding principals of Sonoma Mountain Village, and LEED-ND gives us an opportunity to have independent certification of these efforts”, says Baker. “We’re glad to be a part of this pilot program that combines green building with community planning.”
Sonoma Mountain Village has also been invited to participate in the LEED-ND Focus Group, where more extensive analysis can take place and will help to expedite the Committee’s ability to learn from the pilot program and begin revision of the rating system.
